Editor's Note: This blog was updated on April 23, 2020 to reflect the new time for UsableNet's session for the virtual accessibility conference, "A Future Date."
The presentation, "How to Engage and Employ People from the Disability Community in Accessibility Testing," airs live at 4 pm ET on the dedicated youtube channel.
Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, many presenters and attendees missed CSUN, SXSW, Digital Accessibility Legal Summit and other accessibility conferences scheduled for earlier this year. In the absence of these face to face opportunities, volunteers from the accessibility community have organized "A Future Date" a completely virtual and free event. Many of the sessions scheduled for "A Future Date" were originally scheduled at this year’s major conferences but were cancelled due to public health concerns. The virtual sessions will feature the original panelists presenting. The goal of “A Future Date” is to build up the accessibility community and provide free learning opportunities on a diverse set of accessibility topics.
The event kicks-off with with disability rights attorneys Lainey Feingold of the Law Office of Lainey Feingold and Tim Elder, Principal Attorney at TRE Legal Practice providing the keynote, "Digital Accessibility Legal Update, " Tuesday, April 21st from 11:00-12:10 EST.
Sessions begin each day at 11 am EST and run until 5 pm EST.
Thursday, April 23rd from 4:00 to 4:45 EST, Jason Taylor, Chief Innovation Strategist of UsableNet; Joseph DiNero, Head Digital Accessibility Tester for UsableNet and Assistive Technology Specialist for Helen Keller Services; and Tanner Gers, Business Development Lead for AFB Consulting of the American Foundation for the Blind will close out the conference with a presentation and panel discussion titled, "How to Engage and Employ People from the Disability Community in Accessibility Testing,"
A Future Date will be live streamed on YouTube and will be captioned thanks to 3play Media. Q&A will be conducted and moderated over YouTube chat. You can subscribe to the YouTube Channel and follow on Twitter for additional notifications.
